Lee Academy students to compete in student drama competition at Tennessee Williams Festival

We are pleased to announce that five Lee Academy students are scheduled to compete in the student drama competition at this weekend's Tennessee Williams Festival. Five schools will be competing this year, and Lee Academy is the only local one, creating quite the buzz!
The competition will be held at the Norman Brown Building at Cutrer Mansion this Saturday, October 19th at 9 AM. Please consider attending if you can - it is free and open to the public. Mrs. Beverly Antici will serve as our faculty sponsor. Any students that place will also have the chance to perform again at 3:30 PM on the front porch of the Sherman Law Offices.

Monologues: 

Elizabeth Butler (12th), Hertha from Spring Storm

Lucy Kate Johnson (11th), Heavenly from Spring Storm

Tucker Young (12th), Dick from Spring Storm 

Stella Call*: 

Kyle Rawlinson (12th)

Owen Dixon (12th)

*The Stella Call is a reenactment of the famous Marlon Brando scene from A Street Car Named Desire. 

Senior, Elizabeth Butler, has also been asked to perform her monolgue during the TN Williams bus tour this afternoon in front of the Carnegie Library. Elizabeth will be performing alongside professional actors and actresses - What an opportunity! 

Please join us in congratulating these students on their participation. In particular, the monologue participants have been working hard with Lee Academy English and Language Arts teacher, Jackie Dean and wiht Karen Kohlhaas, founding member of the Atlantic Theater Company in New York City and Tennessee Williams Scholar, to memorize their lines and embody their characters.
